Recently it seems as though the Saudi authorities are being just a tad bit paranoid…

A vulture was tagged by scientists at Tel Aviv University as a part of their long term research project on migration.

The bird flew into a rural area of Saudi Arabia where it was spotted with a transmitter and leg bracelet. It was duly arrested for spying.

According to Al-Weeam newspaper, local residents claim that the vulture is part of a ‘Zionist plot’ to spy on Saudi Arabia.

Just last month Sinai regional governor Mohamed Abdel Fadil Shousha told reporters:

“What is being said about the Mossad throwing the deadly shark in the sea to hit tourism in Egypt is not out of the question. But it needs time to confirm.”

This was in response to the reports of a shark that killed and maimed tourists on its Red Sea port.
