An interesting article popped up today on Associated Content which I thought I would share with you.

Lots of people see supposed ghost / UFO / monster photos and wonder how they can tell whether it is real or just another fake. The problem is that photos are very easily faked these days. Just a bit of knowledge of Photoshop or another photo editing suite will enable you to create your own fakes.

In the old days of film photos, it was a lot more difficult to fake a photo due to the technical aspects of doing so. These days with digital….

We used to say that “to see is to believe.” These days, when almost anything can be made look photorealistic, that quaint expression lacks the sincerity it might have once had. Con you really trust the images you see on
magazine covers, on television, and on the Web?

Photo manipulation, commonly referred to as “photoshopping,” is nothing new. For as long as there have been people taking photos, there have been those who get creative with the final product. Now that anyone with a PC can be a digital magician, how can you tell what is real and what is trickery?

When done at a professional level, doctored pictures can be nearly impossible to tell. However, most fakes leave tell-tale signs that you can easily identify once you know what you’re looking for.
