Spoon-bender Uri Geller is to hunt for Egyptian treasure on his Scottish island in the Firth of Forth.

Geller will look for artefacts relating to the legend of the exiled Egyptian princess Scota, whose boat is said to have anchored at Lamb Island, near North Berwick.

It will be Geller’s first visit to the outcrop, which he bought last year.

He said: “I decided to buy the island after learning that its mysterious heritage dated back to the pharaohs.

“Indeed, the Lamb is one of three outcrops in the Firth of Forth whose geography exactly mirrors the layout of the Great Pyramids at Giza, leading some investigators to speculate that there are secret links between them.

“The Lamb is one of the keystones to British mythology and I am thrilled to be its new owner. I am fascinated by the connection between the pyramids and these islands.”

Lively debate between biologist Rupert Sheldrake and telepathy skeptic Richard Wiseman reveals wide rift between skeptics and psi proponents

sheldrake-wiseman-debate3Join Skeptiko host Alex Tsakiris for a spirited debate between biologist, author, and telepathy researcher, Dr. Rupert Sheldrake, and noted researcher of anomalous psychology, and parapsychology skeptic, Dr. Richard Wiseman. During the 90-minute episode Sheldrake and Wiseman discuss the scientific evidence for telepathy and other psi phenomena.

The debate covers a range of topics, but according to moderator Alex Tsakiris, the real friction began after the debate ended, “During the debate, Dr. Wiseman appeared eager to participate in collaborative research with parapsychologists. He went to great lengths explaining why skeptics and psi proponents should team-up on experiments of telepathy and other psi phenomena. But during an email exchange following the debate (published on the Skeptiko website), his stance took a radical change.”

According to Tsakiris, Wiseman stonewalled attempts to create a skeptics/proponents research forum, “I contacted three very prominent psi researchers and convinced them to take Wiseman up on his offer. They agree, but Wiseman would not. He made various demands aimed at agitating the other researchers, and even balked at a mere one-hour initial dialog. I was stunned, especially since I offered to fund the research.”

A self-proclaimed psychic who called himself “America’s Prophet” and claimed the ability to predict stock market changes was charged today by the Securities & Exchange Commission with multi-million dollar securities fraud.

Sean David Morton started to solicit investors in the summer of 2006 by promising to use his psychic abilities for investment guidance, the SEC alleged in the complaint.

Morton “I have called all the highs and lows of the market, giving exact dates for rises and crashes over the last 14 years,” Morton said in a newsletter to potential investors. Along with his newsletter, Morton also used his website, public speaking engagements, and appearances on a nationally syndicated radio show to promote his Delphi Investment Group.

Israeli spoon bender Uri Geller has revealed how he used his psychic powers to help cops in catching a suspect.

Geller, 63, revealed that he was walking his dog in the grounds when the drama erupted at the colonial-style mansion he shares with wife Hannah, 59, in Sonning-on-Thames, Berks.

Two alleged drug dealers ran into his five-acre estate after abandoning their car during a dramatic police chase, and seven officers dashed to the house after them as a police helicopter hovered overhead.

And while one of the suspects was caught trying to flee across neighbouring fields, the other could not be seen anywhere.

“When I saw the helicopter I ran back to the house – I was concerned for my wife. As I opened the gate to let the police in, one man broke cover and scrambled over the fence,” the Sun quoted Geller as saying.
