Indian Members of Parliament asked the Government of India about Planet X. MPs Rajkumar Dhoot and Naresh Gujral asked, “Whether it is a fact that planet ‘X’ is heading towards Earth at a speed of 20,00,000 miles a year and may come close or collide with it anytime after 2010 to cause destruction like earthquake and tsunami?”

Apart from details, they wanted the government to enlighten them whether this had any links with the Mayan civilization calendar and whether the Government was taking any preventive steps.

Minister of State for Science and Technology Prithviraj Chavan’s reply was brief: “There is no factual basis for this (question).”

Roopkund, better known as “Skeleton Lake,” is one of those enticing, far away places with mysterious, strange-sounding names. Located in the Indian state of Uttarakhand in an uninhabited corner of the Himalayan Mountains, the area is known for its enormous grave of between 300-600 skeletons, which carbon-testing originally dated back to the 12th to 15th centuries.

First discovered by a park ranger in 1942, this frozen lake has since been revisited in recent years, when a team of European and Indian scientists converged on the area at the behest of the National Geographic Channel. The site is so isolated that it requires about four days travel from the nearest human settlement.

Their research has uncovered new theories and facts. DNA testing placed the dead into two distinct physical categories; one of short stature and the other significantly taller (perhaps royalty). Their findings also contradicted earlier radio-carbon testing, as it is now known that the skeletons are even older than previously thought, ascribed to the 9th century.

Last week we reported on the raining tadpoles in Japan. This week we have the raining stones in India!

Mr Anil Hota of Ichchbatipur walks around these days with a palm leaf sheet over his head as his village has been plagued by a rain of stones. He is not alone. Everyone is the village has been taking precaution after the unexplained showers occuring both during the day and during the dead of night.
Raining stones
Mr Srikant Hota, a fellow villager informed the curious and confused neighbours that one big stone had fallen from above injuring him. He showed the injuries marks on his body.

We searched extensively for the origin of the stones, but found no answer for the mystery,” said Mr Hemant Mohapatra, who has also sustained injuries from the raining stones.

Police who were summoned to the village were clueless as to the cause. Many villagers feel that it is a supernatural phenomenon, while some maintain that this was the handwork of a sorcerer with a grudge against the village.

From far back in history, the world has heard strange stories about Indian Yogi’s and their strange mystical abilities. People coming back from the Indian colony came with eye-witness reports of these mysterious feats. Perhaps the most widely reported one is that of levitation.

Is it possible for human beings to levitate? Don’t miss the video at the end of this article.

On the 6th June 1936, P.Y. Plunkett of the Illustrated London News, along with 150 other people witnessed the Yogi Pullaver levitate in the air for about 4 minutes. The feat took place on a sunny, clear day and in an open, unobscured area. Plunkett was permitted to photograph the proceedings.

The Yogi’s assistants set up a small tent in the open area and Pullavar ritualistically poured a circle of water around the perimeter of the tent. Adding to the religious overtones, shoes were not allowed inside the circle. Yogi Pullaver then entered the tent and after several minutes, his attendants removed the tent revealing the Yogi suspended horizontally in the air, several feet from the ground.

Pullaver appeared to be in a trance state and the only evidence of support was his outstretched hand resting on top of a cloth covered walking stick. Witnesses told that it was evident that the Yogi did not exert much pressure on the stick.

The audience was invited to see the spectacle from close up. Many photo’s were taken and they checked for strings, props or anything else which may be responsible for his suspension. they found nothing.

After four minutes, the attendants re-erected the tent around the Yogi. They said that this was to shield him as he made his descent. Plunkett reported that he could see the outline of the guru through the tent. He noted that the Yogi swayed gently for a short time before sinking slowly to a horizontal position on the ground.

When the tent was again removed, Yogi Pullaver was seen lying on the ground in a deep trance. Volunteers were then asked to try and bend his arms and legs. Plunckett reported that they were unable to do so as his limbs appeared to be locked into their positions.
