In Ventura County, California, near the city of Santa Paula, lurks a strange monster. First sighted in the 1950′s the monster has been named the Beast of Billiwhack.

The beast is said to inhabit the area around the now defunct Billiwhack Dairy. The legend started when a 9 year old boy arrived home with scratches on his arms and back. He claimed that he had been attacked by a strange monster, but managed to escape and run home.

Those who claim to have seen the beast have described it as being Half man, half goat, with white fur and giant horns. The beast does not speak but rather snarls and grunts when seen.

Sightings have usually been reported by children and teenagers. One young boy was once caught with a sword and when asked why he was there, replied that he intended to slay the beast. This story was widely reported in a LA Times article in 1964.

This was not the only time that children decided to hunt down and destroy the beast. The article also mentions a time when a woman who leased the property, had to hold off 43 children with a shotgun until the police arrived to deal with the situation.

The farm was originally owned by a Swiss immigrant, August Rübel, in 1920. His two surviving daughters were interviewed about the beast, but both claim to know nothing about it. They said that they only knew of ghost rumours which started long after they had left.

He is now believes that either Tynedale’s infamous black cat has struck again, or that a wild boar has strayed from its rumoured habitat around Prudhoe Hospital.

He told reporters:

“The other explanation is that it could be a black cat.

“That could just be a myth, but I reported the incidents to the police and the officer I spoke to said he had seen the creature with his own eyes.”

Last Tuesday the grizzly remains of a strange creature washed ashore at Croyde Bay near Exmoor, England.

The beast was described as being as big as a calf but with ‘massive’ canine teeth. It appeared that the carcass had the remains of a tail and hair was found in the debris.

As the carcass washed ashore in North Devon, just a few miles from Exmoor, people began wondering whether the creature was that of the infamous ‘Beast of Exmoor’ which is said to roam the countryside. The ‘Beast of Exmoor’ is said to be a puma-like cat which people have been reporting since the 1970′s.

In 1983 about 100 sheep were found mauled and intriguing photos and sightings soon followed, but the beast was never positively identified. Since then, sheep and other livestock have mysteriously disappeared or slaughtered across Exmoor, all without any firm identification of the beast.

Locals believe that the carcass could be the beast which may have drifted down from Exmoor which is only about 5 miles away by sea. However a forensic examination of the carcass has positively identified the carcass, not as a big cat, but something entirely different.

Earlier we reported on the weirdness that surrounds the place called Cannock Chase. For many years this area has been associated with big cats, weird creatures, unknown manlike races and UFO’s.

Could a recent discovery be evidence that a big mammal does stalk the area?

In July this year golfers Ray Bright and Danny Adams photographed a huge pawprint they discovered at a nearby golf club. This coupled with numerous reports of sightings have only served to deepen the mystery.

Recently the Chase Post published an article showing a cast of a large pawprint. The print spans over four inches and seems to back up these reported sightings.
