Cynics may dismiss it as just a piece of driftwood or a trick of the light.
But a photograph showing what appears to be a long-necked sea creature has got marine experts scratching their heads.
The ‘animal’ was snapped stalking a shoal of fish just 30 yards off the British coast.
The fish were apparently so terrified they beached themselves just seconds later.
The creature was spotted off the Devon coast at Saltern Cove, Paignton, by locals who reported a sighting of what they thought was a turtle.
But pictures taken by one of the baffled witnesses, Gill Pearce, reveal the neck of the greenish-brown beast with the reptile-like head is far too long for it to be a turtle.
Mrs Pearce, who took the photo on July 27, reported her sighting to the Marine Conservation Society (MCS) where it was studied by sea life experts.
Claire Fischer from the MCS said: ‘Gill Pearce spotted the creature about 20 metres from the bay at Saltern Cove, near Goodrington.
‘It was observed at about 15.30 on 27 July but by the time she had got her camera it had moved further out.
‘She spotted it following a shoal of fish which beached themselves in Saltern Cove.
‘The creature remained in the sea, then went out again and followed the shoal – this indicates it’s not a turtle as they only eat jellyfish.
‘We would love to know if other people have seen anything like this in the same area and can help clear up the mystery.’

An apparent active industrial site on the surface of Mars with a “large nozzle shooting a liquid spray” onto an apparent industrial waste area has been successfully located and explored in a remote viewing study conducted by the Farsight Institute in March 2010 using nine highly trained remote viewers and methodologies developed by the U.S. military.
According to the Farsight Institute, the original discovery of the active industrial site and giant nozzle spray “was made by [Mars anomaly researcher] Patrick Skipper” from photographs of the site taken by Jet Propulsion Laboratories (JPL).
Reporter Alfred Lambremont Webre attended a July 6, 2010 Montreal presentation of the results Mars remote viewing study by Dr. Courtney Brown, and the following is based on his notes.

Canadian archeologists have found a ship abandoned more than 150 years ago in the quest for the fabled Northwest Passage and which was lost in the search for the doomed expedition of Sir John Franklin, the head of the team said Wednesday.
Marc-Andre Bernier, Parks Canada’s head of underwater archaeology, said the HMS Investigator, abandoned in the ice in 1853, was found in shallow water in Mercy Bay along the northern coast of Banks Island in Canada’s western Arctic.
“The ship is standing upright in very good condition. It’s standing in about 11 meters (36 feet) of water,” he said. “This is definitely of the utmost importance. This is the ship that sailed the last leg of the Northwest Passage.”

Japanese officials have made a six million dollar bid for the 22nd edition of the World Cup (2022) that proposes the actual tournament be broadcast all across the world via real-time holographic technology.
Holographic Soccer Japan Proposes Holographic World Cup 2022 picture
The initiative, known as Universal Fan Fest, will allow some 360 million people from 208 countries to watch a live 3-D feed of the games.
Though it sounds quite far-fetched for the early 21st century, the idea is to simultaneously capture all World Cup action via 200 high-definition cameras placed in a 360-degree circle around the stadium—and then transmit it in real-time to approximately 400 stadiums all across the world.
This means you would potentially be able to watch each match live right from your local, hometown stadium.
Not only is this proposal quite thrilling albeit a tad futuristic, it’s also green in that a portion of the energy required to operate all the required equipment would somehow come from the fans themselves.
The techno-geniuses from Japan say that as excited crowds scream, cheer and stomp their feet, the resultant energy will somehow be collected. There’s also talk of setting up solar arrays to harvest even more power.
According to PCWorld, the director of technology for the bid, Jun Murai, “stated that despite the idea seeming like something out of a science fiction film,” the technology will be up and running as early as 2016! That means they’ll have an additional six years to tweak it for the World Cup games.
