Deep in the heart of Maryland, USA, lurks one of the most fearsome beasts in all of folklore – the Goatman.

Those who have encountered this monster, describe him as being half-man from the waist up and half-goat from the waist down. Some claim that the beast even has goat horns on his head. If this was not bad enough, the Goatman is also said to have a huge double-blade axe which he uses to hack the victims he encounters in the darkened lanes. He is nearly always described as being between six and seven feet tall.

What is striking is that the creature sounds similar to folklore concerning the devil, the Greek god, Pan, or the Greek creature known as a satyr.

Most Urban Legends tend to ‘move’ about, with various towns and villages laying claim to the monster. In this case however, the Goatman is firmly entrenched in the legends and folklore of Maryland.

Stories of the Goatman first appeared from around 1957 when a couple were spending a passionate moment in their car under the moonlit sky. Their lovemaking was suddenly interrupted by a banging on their car hood. Looking up, they were shocked to see a goat-like creature staring at them, with a large double-bladed axe in its hand. The creature glared at the couple before running off into the woods.

A man was bitten by three people and had his blood drunk in an alleged vampire-type attack in the dark on Wellington’s Mt Victoria.

Two men and a woman have been charged with wounding with intent to render a man unconscious in relation to the bizarre attack on February 20.

James Phillip Brooks, 22, and Xenia Gregoriana Borichevsky, 19, were at Wellington District Court yesterday.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of the third accused, James Eric Orr, 19.

Brooks told The Dominion Post yesterday that all three bit the victim, but he did not draw blood. “Do I look like a vampire?

The three were jointly charged last month with wounding with intent to render a man unconscious on the night of February 20, court documents show.

The charge carries a maximum penalty of 14 years in jail.

It is understood the victim passed out after being bitten.

Then Dawn will do something unprecedented in real-world spaceflight: exit the orbit of one distant body, and fly to and orbit another. The second destination is asteroid Ceres.

“Dawn will be the first spacecraft ever built to orbit two target bodies after leaving Earth,” says Marc Rayman, Dawn chief engineer at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. “There’s not even a concept for doing such a mission with conventional propulsion systems. The spacecraft would have to carry so much fuel, it would be too heavy to launch.”

I have been watching all the debate and opinions flooding the internet concerning the subject of Alien visitation, what aliens will do, and how it will affect the earth and all who live upon it.

I read the views from the top scientists to those who have no obvious knowledge of the subject at all.

Everyone has a say everyone thinks they are right and EVERYONE bases their view from their limited human understanding of science, life and the universe. That is where our problem lies. Our own foolishness leaves me slapping my forehead in anguish wondering what the living heck is wrong with everyone.

Did it ever occur to the human race that we are not all that and that we really need to get over ourselves? Let us be really honest here and take an uncharacteristic look at reality. Humans are an animal -that is a fact. Humans are intelligent animals as we can alter our surroundings, use tools and advance by way of abstract thinking. So far so good -the humans are looking good as far as earth bound life is concerned. Now let us look at humans via our universal neighborhood. We may be average as far as life forms our age or even more advanced than those who are only starting up the ladder of intelligence. We also may be far less developed as a civilized species than other life forms who may be millions even billions of years older.
