Janine Robinson and her husband, Steve, are tenants at the Light Horseman pub and hotel in Fulford Road in York.
On a Saturday morning, the first thing she usually hears downstairs is the cleaner coming in at about 8am.
But on August 23, she heard an unusual sound at 7.30am. “It sounded like the hand dryers you get in toilets,” she said.
The pub has digital cameras in all communal areas constantly recording. “I put the cameras on in the office upstairs to have a look,” she said. “I saw what I thought was a man going up the stairs. I saw something else going behind it and going into the pool room.

“But when I switched to the camera in there, it was all locked up and there was nothing there.”
Janine had to go downstairs to make breakfast for her guests. Later, she went back to look at footage from the camera in the downstairs hall and saw ghostly orbs floating up the stairs.
“I’ve no idea what it is,” she said. “We’ve had the camera looked over. There’s no fault on it, nothing hanging down on to it and no torch because you’d see the beam — it’s just weird.”
“If someone can tell me what it is, I’d love to know,” the sceptical landlady said.
The Robinsons took over the premises four-and-a-half years ago. Janine said she had been told it had been purpose-built as an officers’ mess for the nearby Imphal Barracks in the 19th century.
“I’ve never seen anything like this before,” she said. “But if they’re checking into the B&B, I want paying!”

Archeologists from St. Petersburg have unearthed a mysterious disc, dating back to the Bronze age.
The sandstone disc was discovered near the town of Tuapse (Krasnodar territory) during archeaological excavations of a dolmen. The dolmen was covered by a 3-meter thick soil layer. The dolmen and the treasures have been undisturbed for about 4 thousand years.
The disk is 27 cm in diameter, and at its centre it has several symbols, the meaning of which is still unclear. Scientists suggest that some of the signs could symbolise the Sun and Moon, and the mysterious disc could have served as an astrological device for the ancient inhabitants of the region.
The disk is reminiscent of the Phaistos disk from the Minoan palace of Phaistos. It is about 15 cm in diameter and covered on both sides with a spiral of stamped symbols. Its purpose and meaning, and even its original geographical place of manufacture, remain disputed, making it one of the most famous mysteries of archaeology. It is currently housed in the archaeological museum of Heraklion in Crete, Greece.
Another set of mysterious disk are the Dropa stones. According to Erich von Däniken, one Chi Pu Tei, a professor of archeology at Beijing University, in 1938 was on an expedition with his students to explore a series of caves in the Bayan Kara Ula range of the Himalayan mountains, near Qinghai region.
His team supposedly hundreds of 30 cm wide stone discs – referred to as Dropa Stones – each with a 20 mm hole in their centers. Each stone disk was said to be inscribed with two fine grooves spiraling from the edge to a hole in the disk’s center, resembling the Phaistos Disk. The disks were labeled along with other finds of the expedition and stored away at Beijing University for 20 years, during which deciphering attempts were unsuccessful.
Some reports state that a Dr. Tsum somehow deciphered the symbols and they told the story of the crash-landing of the Dropa spaceship and the killing of most of the survivors by local people.

Of course this story got around and when her parents found out, they insisted that she must be demon possessed and took her straight to the presbytery to have her exorcised. The curate was skeptical and demanded to see the strange happening himself. Angélique complied. The curate was convinced that the matter was physical rather than spiritual and advised her parents to take her to a doctor.
In the meantime Angélique’s condition worsened. When she attempted to sit in a large wooden chair, the chair was forced away from by an unseen force. It was so strong that a large man could not keep hold of it. A table weighing 60 pounds floated up from the floor when she touched it, and sleeping in her bed became impossible as it would rock and shudder as soon as she went near it. The only place that seemed safe to sleep was the cold stone floor with a cork plank thrown on it.
Whenever she went near objects, they would move away. Just a touch of her hand, or even clothing, would send even heavy furniture flying – even if someone was holding onto it. Another anomaly to emerge was that frequently people who went near her would get electric shocks. Cold air, such as is often reported during poltergeist or haunting activity was also felt.
